Mar 28, 2024

Participants in the Czech Republic's initiative to purchase artillery shells for Ukraine outside Europe have signed an agreement under which Kyiv will receive one million rounds of ammunition, more than planned.

This was reported on 28 March by the Italian newspaper Corriere della Sera, citing its own sources.

Initially, it was assumed that 800,000 shells would be purchased: 500,000 for the largest 155 mm caliber and another 300,000 for 122 mm, but Czech officials found another 200,000 shells.

"It is not known which companies were approached, although rumors point to South Korea, Turkey, and possibly South Africa," the newspaper writes.
