The White House wants US House Speaker Mike Johnson to bring up the issue of aid to Ukraine for discussion immediately.

This was stated by the White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre, according to her briefing.

"I can’t speak to their timeline.  We want this to happen right away.  Right away. We originally put this forward back in October of last year," she said, commenting on the statement by House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Michael McCaul that the issue would be considered after the Easter break, i.e. after April 9.

According to her, the aid package for Ukraine will be approved in the House of Representatives, as it has bipartisan support, if it is put up for discussion.

"We would encourage and continue to encourage the Speaker Johnson to put that bill on the floor," Jean-Pierre said.

As the press secretary noted, "We see what’s happening in Ukraine.  They’re losing ground and — on the battlefield.  And that is because — partly because — why Russia is being even more aggressive is because the inaction of Congress".

It should be reminded that the United States has not been providing Ukraine with new weapons for several months. This is due to the fact that Congress cannot approve new funding for the supply.

The US Senate has already passed a bill providing about $60 billion for Ukraine. However, the document has not yet passed the House of Representatives. House Speaker Mike Johnson refuses to bring the initiative to the floor.
